Quartermaster Aboard is a web interface and Signal K Server plugin running on an onboard Raspberry Pi. Its job is to organize vessel documentation and equipment history where the boat is.
THE CURRENT DESIGN

Phone or computer
Open the Quartermaster pages on the boat's network. Scan a QR label to reach an equipment record.
Onboard Raspberry Pi
Signal K Server hosts the Quartermaster plugin and its web pages.
Local records
SQLite stores structured records. Photos and documents are kept in the plugin's onboard storage.
The public Netlify website presents the product. It does not store or serve a vessel's Quartermaster database.

Photos & documents
Attach equipment photos and PDF manuals to the corresponding record.
Parts & maintenance
Keep related parts, service records, operating hours, and maintenance schedules with the equipment.
QR labels
Assign a unique asset code and print a label whose QR link opens the asset page.
Photo intake
Capture equipment and nameplate photos for review. AI assisted identification can suggest details for a person to approve.
Backup & recovery
Keep separate backups of the onboard records and uploaded files as part of the installation procedure.
SCOPE
Focused on documentation.
Quartermaster is a vessel and equipment record system. It is not a navigation display, NMEA gateway, or live instrumentation dashboard. Internet access is not the basis of the onboard record workflow.
